Table Mount Headphone Hanger - No clamps
thingiverse
This is a simple table mount headphone hanger that does not require any clamping. The current design is long enough to fit a table top up to 60mm (2.5in) The design is inspired by women's handbag hangers that I saw my mother used in the 70s. She goes to a restaurant and took out a metal gadget to hang her bag on the table edge. She just slide the gadget to the table edge and put her bag on it - no clamping. As a kid, I was fascinated by how it work. The gadget is a just piece of metal rod with a flat end that can be twisted to lay flat on the table. I uploaded a picture what the gadget looks like. It is an elegant and effective design leveraging the center of gravity and bending moments to keep it staying on the edge of the table top. What matters is where the center of gravity is. The length in my design can be increased to fit thicker table if needed. If the table top is slick, tape a piece of thin foam to the flat part that is in contacts with the table to increase fiction. My next iteration will be to narrow the vertical section. It does not need to be as wide as the part that makes contact with the table top. I used Designspark Mechanical 5.0 to create model and export the model as an OBJ file
