Table Louis XIV

Table Louis XIV, made from rich oak and ebony wood, boasts a stunning marble tabletop and intricately gilded wooden details. On display at the Musée du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Belgium, this masterpiece was captured with CapturingReality. The opulent style of Louis XIV furniture dominated during his early reign (1660-1690), characterized by lavish ornamentation and sculpture made from gleaming gilded bronze. However, a significant shift occurred around 1690, thanks to the innovative designs of André Charles Boulle, who introduced a more refined and delicate aesthetic. This new style was built on the art of marquetry, where skilled craftsmen inlaid pieces of ebony and other rare woods into intricate patterns. The furniture featured exquisite plaques of ebony, copper, mother of pearl, and exotic hardwoods in vibrant colors, carefully arranged to create elaborate designs that continue to awe viewers.
