Table Louis XIV

myminifactory

Table Louis XIV, oak and ebony wood, marble tabletop, gilded wood. Musée du Cinquantenaire (Brussels, Belgium). Made with CapturingReality. Louis XIV furniture dominated the scene during his personal reign (1660–1690), boasting lavish coverage of sculpture and ornate gilded bronze accents. However, by around 1690, a more refined style emerged, largely thanks to innovative designer André Charles Boulle. This new style centered on marquetry techniques, which involved intricately inlaying pieces of ebony and rare woods. Furniture pieces were meticulously inlaid with thin plaques of ebony, copper, mother-of-pearl, and exotic woods in a kaleidoscope of colors, arranged in elaborate designs that showcased exceptional craftsmanship.
