mgaber@ifao.egnet.net The Offering Table. This offering table originates from the chapels of the princess of the 25th dynasty in Habu temple on Luxor's west bank. At the top, we can observe a sun bread and a vase overflowing with milk and wine, accompanied by geese - some of the offerings used during this period. The priests would place these offerings onto the table and wash them with water from the Nile, allowing us to see the gutter water at the top. This table is constructed out of black granite sourced from the quarry in Aswan. On the side of the offering table, we notice that the name of the king has been erased - a phenomenon that occurred for political reasons. Erasing someone's name implies it would be impossible for them to achieve resurrection, thus no next life. This practice is reminiscent of the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, where all her names were eradicated from the temple. The article: Tour Guide / Mohammed Farag
