Table Corner Bumper, Guard, Protector: Simple & Useful (TPU Flexible Filament Recommended) Everywhere we go, there seem to be some table corners that are rough and uncomfortable to touch. I have a table in the lab with worn-out edges that are too big to get rid of, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a corner protector. The design is about 80mm x 80mm x width and can be printed using TPU flexible filament at 0.4 mm resolution. With two printed protectors and some gorilla glue, the problem was solved instantly. Upon further reflection, I think this could be an excellent starting design project for K-12 students to apply their STEM knowledge in a real-world setting. Send them around to find a table or similar problem to solve. For immediate use, I created a few corner protectors with varying widths. Please try to use a slightly wider one to ensure maximum protection. To Design One There are several methods to design a corner protector, making it an ideal project for students to learn and practice their skills. Here's how: 1. Simply sketch a few rectangles and extrude them into 3D shapes. 2. Use two rectangular prisms and combine them using the cutting tool. 3. Take advantage of symmetry by designing one half of the protector and then reflecting it. Remember to round off the edges for a smooth finish. In short, design is all about problem-solving!
