original one was designed to hold the connector, and allow wire to come out, to go to another box and connect it. my end (long one) allws wiring this connector to an extension cord, hold the wires inside this tube, coer them up. the short end is for the other end of bulb. NOTE, this applies to LED BULB only in my case, it requres line, and neutral, at one end only. MY COVER is not implying any electrical work, that is your own risk and skill
