T8 8mm Lead Screw
thingiverse
I find that those set screw couplers that come with printer kits often fall short of providing an accurate and smooth motion because it's very difficult to center the shaft and lead screw in the coupler. This can lead to wobbly lead screws and z-banding, resulting in poor print quality. I designed this solution to use M3 nuts and bolts to clamp around the D-shaft of the stepper motor and a T8 lead screw, providing an adequate friction fit that perfectly aligns the two components. There is zero flex between the shaft and lead screw, which may cause issues on cheaper machines that needed the "give" that the old coupler allowed for. I recommend printing this component vertically to ensure proper alignment of the M3 nut recesses. To install the M3 nuts, place them on the first few threads of a bolt and then use the bolt to shove the nut into place. Simply twist the bolt counterclockwise to release it and leave the nut in there. In total, you'll need: * 2x M3 nuts * 2x M3 bolts (at least 16mm in length)
