T62M is a cutting-edge modernization of the T-62, boasting enhanced protection and mobility features, along with the state-of-the-art "Volna" fire control system. It is equipped with a BDD appliqué armor package, an extra belly armor plate for anti-mine defense, 10 mm thick reinforced rubber side skirts, and a 10 mm thick anti-neutron liner. The BDD appliqué armor package was specifically designed to outmaneuver shaped charges (such as RPGs) and consists of an appliqué plate on the glacis and two horseshoe-shaped blocks fitted to the front of the turret. To make room for the bra appliqué armor, handrails around the turret have been taken away. Fasteners for four spare track chain links have been added on the side of the turret. The tank is outfitted with RhKM tracks from the T-72 main battle tank and two extra shock absorbers on the first pair of roadwheels.
