This replaces the unsightly 'guppy' at the bottom of plastic T1x magazines, a necessary improvement for aesthetic purposes. No modifications to the magazine are needed; simply swap out the old base for this one. I've used it with a 22LR mag and observed that the capacity decreases from ten rounds to eight due to its use. It should fit snugly on the 17HMR mag as well, but I'm unsure what the capacity reduction will be. For guidance on removing the OEM base, perform a Google search for "remove T1x mag base." A helpful PDF online provides clear instructions on how to remove it with a small screwdriver; ignore any additional information regarding cutting the mag body, as it's unnecessary in this case. This new base snaps into place easily and has thus far held securely on my magazines.
