T-Trak Track Alignment Gauge
thingiverse
This is a gauge designed to ensure tracks are aligned with T-Trak module standards during construction. The standards demand that the centerline of the front track be positioned exactly 2 inches from the module's front edge, with tracks spaced 33mm apart and overhanging the module ends by 1mm. To achieve this precise alignment, simply clamp this gauge to the end of a module, ensuring one edge is even with the module's front. Initially, I created this style of gauge using sheet styrene for my own use several years ago. Now, it has been reimagined as a 3D printable design. Four versions are available: * The standard version * A Kato Unitrack double track piece-specific edition that omits the center spacing component * A test version with minimal clamping surface, ideal for quickly checking dimensions on your printer * A three-track location variant, useful for setting up a third track or accommodating the three allowable positions used in narrow single-track modules Print two gauges to clamp to both ends of a module. The gauges are symmetrical and can be utilized for either end. On July 28, 2019, I added a track placement gauge, which is a simple tool for evaluating track position on already constructed modules. Reliefs have been added next to the tracks to accommodate ballast. T-Trak is a widely adopted standard for tabletop model railroad displays. For more information, visit http://www.t-trak.org/.
