Tyrannosaurus stands out as a prime example of a coelurosaurian theropod dinosaur genus, boasting the species Tyrannosaurus rex, which means "king" in Latin. This highly represented large theropod, commonly referred to as T. rex or T-Rex, thrived across western North America, where an island continent once existed called Laramidia. The range of Tyrannosaurus surpassed that of other tyrannosaurids, and fossil discoveries were made in a diverse array of rock formations dating back to the Maastrichtian age within the upper Cretaceous Period, spanning from 68 million to 66 million years ago. This mighty creature emerges as one of the final tyrannosaurid survivors before the catastrophic Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, leaving its legacy in the record books.
