T-Rex Tape Dispenser Revisited

T-Rex Tape Dispenser Revisited

I loved using the T-Rex Tape Dispenser but found it hard to put a full spool of tape into place and it didn't stay secure. So, I went back to the original design - The T-Rex Skull, and used the 3M Tape Dispenser Core to create a new one. This new version is slightly bigger than the first one and takes some skill to print, but looks fantastic on your desk and dispenses a full roll of tape successfully. Printing with glow-in-the-dark filament makes it even more impressive. Instructions: To make it work properly, you'll need to print in ABS at 0.2 mm layers with 15% infill and supports. I treated my finished product with acetone vapors for extra strength. I used white filament with a glow-in-the-dark effect for the skull. Assembling is quite straightforward, but remember not to attach anything to the actual skull part. To take it apart, squeeze firmly at both rear tips of the jaw bone and lift off the upper skull. You can now replace the tape roll and remove or swap out the lower jaw if you need to. You have two choices when printing the base: print T-Rex Base Part 1.stl, T-Rex Base Part 2.stl, and T-Rex Base Part 3.stl for large objects with flat designs. You'll then need to glue the two halves together and use small sharp screws to attach the supports. (Make sure the spool pin faces towards the back.) Alternatively, you only need one print - T-Rex Base Whole.stl. Update: January 2016, I made improvements to the Base_Whole file which will help reduce warping when printed. No extra support is needed for this version.
