T-Rex Dinosaur from Dinos and Comics
prusaprinters

I love the Dinos and Comics strip on Instagram.

And I wanted to print some T-Rexes as gifts. I did find an STL on Cults3D - but it was flawed. So I created my own.

Here's my process:

Get a PNG from Google Image Search.

Vectorize with InkScape, clean up the outline and save as SVG.

Simplify this outline to just the external contour in Inkscape, save as a second SVG.

Import external contour SVG in Blender (first-time use for me :) and extrude.

Import outline SVG and carefully place on top of first extrusion, then also extrude.

Export to STL.

Slice with two external perimeters, two bottoms and three tops, 20% infill.

Print with DasFilament Tom3D's Infintiy Blue PLA on my Ender 3.

Colorize using ink markers.

I hope you like it as much as I do! If so, please leave a make.
I also include the outline SVG file so you can experiment yourself …

To hang them to the wall with a small nail, you can use my ornament wall hook:

https://www.printables.com/model/161208-wall-hook-for-ornaments-and-pictures
