T-Post Corner Insulator

T-Post Corner Insulator

I'm impressed with Chipguy's design for his T-post insulator over on Thingiverse - specifically, this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1440228.\r\n\r\nMy concern was that the insulator might spark when it got wet, so I decided to route the wire through a high-voltage tube instead. These tubes are readily available from Tractor Supply or other vendors who specialize in electric fencing materials. Tractor Supply's tubing measures 8 mm O.D., and I made sure my design would fit snugly around that size.\r\n\r\nTo make it easy to slip over a T-post that might be slightly dented, I kept the dimensions loose enough for a hammer-swung post. Next, I added a 20 mm long piece of the same tubing and secured it with a cable tie inside the insulator between the nubs at the desired height. Check out the photo for a clearer understanding. This extra step not only keeps the insulator from sliding down but also holds the wire in place when stretching the fence.\r\n\r\nThis insulator is specifically designed to fit a standard 1.25 lb/ft T-post, and I even modeled a section of T-post beforehand just for fun. Just keep in mind that different manufacturers might have slightly varying dimensions on their T-posts.
