T-800 Terminator USB hub compartment
thingiverse
I repurposed the T-800 model, dismantling its exterior and carving out space to house a compact USB hub within. Custom LED fixtures were crafted to create glowing orbs for the eyes, requiring specialized transparent material printing capabilities. Thus far, however, I'm still awaiting self-awareness in this creation - which is somewhat disappointing but acceptable nonetheless. I chose a shiny bronze PLA to print the skull's outer layer at an interval of 0.200 mm. Tipping the model slightly backward during printing resulted in seamless results without needing supports. Most any small, compact 2-4 port hub should easily fit inside. LED illuminated charging cables were connected to the hub and subsequently routed through transparent PET (layered at 0.300 mm) eye pieces. Next time I replicate this project, I'll opt for a scale-up to 125% - which will give the skull more room to accommodate the USB hub that caught my attention initially. Additionally, this increased size should allow for a life-sized representation of the skull's anatomy. Using CraftWare software and printing with a CraftBot machine got me off the ground. Update: My most recent endeavor involved adding Viva Inka Gold finishes in graphite and silver hues using brushstrokes not unfamiliar to beginners - resulting in a job that's more "OK" than polished but serves as a testament nonetheless to the transformative potential of a few key alterations.
