With the T-43 canceled, the Soviet command made the decision to retool the factories to produce a superior version of the T-34. Its turret ring was enlarged from 1,425 mm to 1,600 mm, allowing a larger turret to be fitted and thus the larger 85 mm gun to be mounted. The prototype T-43's turret design was hastily adopted by Vyacheslav Kerichev at the Krasnoye Sormovo Factory to fit the T-34. This resulted in a larger three-man turret with radio previously located inside the hull and an observation cupola now situated on the roof. Now, the tank commander only needs to command, allowing the gunner and loader to operate the gun without interference. The turret armor was significantly thicker, measuring 90 mm, although it was larger and less sloped than the original T-34 turret. Model info: This model is based on my original T-34/85 model, which can be found in my store. This is a battle-damaged version of the model. The model is saved as .max (v.2018) with a Path Deform modifier to facilitate modifications to the tracks. To fix the tracks, simply right-click on the Path Deform modifier and select Collapse to.
