T-34-85 1:100

I've built this model of the T-34-85. I scoured the internet for blueprints and scaled it down to 1:100, figuring if the printer works, you can make one in five hours. (The hull has the longest print time) So here are a few things worth considering if you want to make this model of the T-34-85. To get good detailing, I broke it up into quite a few separate parts. The STL files have their coordinate system set so that printing with the Z-axis upwards will give the best result (I think; that's how I printed them). The handles and grills on the hull are 0.4mm wide, which means you'll need to adjust the outer wall line width and enable print thin walls to get those to print properly (I used Cura). For all parts that require gluing, I used very thin cyanoacrylate. The fenders have their base surface only one layer thick. Be careful with those, and make sure your printer lays down a good first layer. Very little of this surface will be visible in the built model, and it's mostly there to help you orient the fenders to the hull before and during gluing. To aid with gluing, I created small pockets in the base surface where you can apply a thin glue, which should then get drawn in between the fender and hull. Just be careful not to get yourself stuck doing this! Most parts are printable without any support, but there are a few exceptions: the hull, turret_upper, and tanks_rear. For aligning the parts, I used 1.2mm and 1.6mm metal rods: * Fenders and tracks require 1.2 x 23mm * Gun_mount needs 1.2 x 9.5mm * Turret requires 1.2 x 5mm * Gun demands 1.6 x 34.25mm The two parts of the turret are held together with a M3x14 countersunk screw, which also secures the turret to a plastic bushing that's press-fit in the hull (supposed to be). The plastic bushing called 'bearing_turret' is included in the files, but you can replace it with a standard ball bearing 5x10x4 if you want a smoother motion. You should be able to find one at various hobby shops. I hope you like the model and found this information helpful or at least a bit interesting! Good luck with the build (which I assume you'll be doing if you've read this far down).
