Søborg Wood Chair by Børge Mogensen
sketchfab
The MoMA's competition in New York sparked the creation of the Søborg chair, as Børge Mogensen joined forces with his friend Hans J. Wegner. This project gave Mogensen the chance to experiment with plywood, aiming to craft an industrially producible chair. By 1950, Mogensen unveiled the prototype for the Søborg chair, showcasing a seamless blend of plywood technology and his signature functionalism in solid wood. The chair's spacious seat and backrest were thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and ergonomic support, whether padded or not.
