Sächsiches Gräberfeld Gevensleben
sketchfab
A phone call on Sunday in February 2016 at 10 PM: "\In Gevensleben, a grave field was discovered that we need to excavate!" These were the words that started assembling the excavation team, which four days later conducted its first exposures in the frozen ground. Within 14 days, the graves of 63 individuals were excavated and documented on approximately 400 square meters. The burials with special offerings and dress items were found in the northeastern part of the grave field. Offerings and radiocarbon measurements date the early medieval burial ground to the 8th and 9th centuries AD. The burials and findings are on display from August 18 to August 26, 2018 at the community center Gevensleben (Watenstedter Street, 38384 Gevensleben). http://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/587156.html Visualization of the grave field after photographic documentation and excavation plan (Dr. Philip Lüth - ARchaeology & Consulting) www.lueth-archaeologie.de
