São Tiago Church | Montemor-o-Novo's Castle
sketchfab
The church had already been documented as one of the four existing parish churches within the intramural village of Montemor-o-Novo by 1302. Worshipers attended services here until the late 19th century. This church features an intriguing set of mural paintings executed during the 17th and 18th centuries. The main chapel's ceiling, still remarkably well-preserved, boasts a stunning "Orchestra of Musician Angels" decoration. Restoration efforts transformed it into the Interpretative Center of the Castle in 2007. A scan was conducted in April 2019, just before the church was set to undergo restoration and renovation for the second time and a new exhibit. The Castle of Montemor-o-Novo's Interpretation Center reopened on March 7th, 2020. Processed using RealityCapture, this model combines 683 drone images, 1900 terrestrial images, and 96 FAROFocus3D laser scan positions to create an accurate representation.
