Kovács Ferenc, a renowned Váci woodcarver, has several sculptures from the early 1990s on display at the Ferenczy Museum. One of these works is a statue of Széchenyi, depicting him as a black horseback riding, dark-haired man with a beard and a top hat, wearing a checked suit and gray pants, holding a riding crop in his hand. The statue is made of painted wood, using various materials such as artificial leather for the horse's harness, papier-mâché for the saddle blanket, and stencil paper for "gilding". Kovács Ferenc created similar works, including statues of Árpád the prince and Bartók Béla, which can be found in our collection. (Sz. Tóth Judit)
