In 2016, I worked on a senior design project involving a large-scale 3D printer featuring an ABB industrial robotic arm, custom-designed computer, and Linux-controlled Robot Operating System (ROS). Our exceptional project won the "Best Design" award from over 70 mechanical engineering senior projects at Virginia Tech. My individual contributions included designing the user interface, integrating Slic3r in the command line for gcode creation, and translating gcode into ROS-comprehensible robot poses. Team members were Edward Cottiss, Oliver Ebeling-Koning, Taylor Pesek, Matthew Price, Zackary Snow, David Tichnell, and Mark Traverso.
