Structural 3D-Wall.Planting pots, shelves, electronics and lights joinable to connect to a wall in simple 3d printing designs. Easy to expand in size and function by adding pumps, lights and other electronics without much difficulty. A hexwall pot is 140mm wide. I am still printing parts and assembling them for a working prototype to show pictures. So far everything has worked as expected. Print Settings Printer: Spili Blue Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: Use a moderate level of detail Infill: As desired Notes: Place the pots on the backside for slicing. The structure needs support at the two hexagonal outlets, possibly inlets too, else no additional support is necessary. Post-Printing Remove supports and sand off any excess material from the outlets to make them fit smoothly. Punch or drill holes in the outlets where water needs to flow through. Don't forget to make it watertight. How I Designed This I was feeling bored and needed a project to work on. MATERIAL One basic pot requires about 90 Grams of ABS plastic. PVC Pipe (52mm diameter, standard pipe) Pump Hose Tank Connectors Solar cells Wind turbine Water wheel Batteries Screws Custom Section PLAN YOUR HEXWALL It's always a good idea to make a plan before starting the project. What is the main goal? A full planting wall or just a few plants and a shelf? Draw a sketch and think about where to start if you want to expand it later. When water flows in, where does it go through, are all holes open on its way down? THE PIPE Print the template twice or more. Use one or two 8mm rods and fix them 140mm apart to cut, mill or drill the right number of slots. See the drawing for measurements. SHELF See the drawing for measurements. The slot is 10mm wide. MONTAGE Screw the wall fixes into place on the wall to hold the pieces together. Push a joint into the holes on the back where they meet. It's possible to screw them down for extra strength.
