This project employs X-ray microfocus radiography to track shifting displacement patterns and saturation levels within Berea sandstone rock samples as they undergo water alternating gas injection coreflood experiments. Water alternating gas (WAG) injection is frequently utilized in enhanced oil recovery for partially depleted oil and gas reservoirs. To displace remaining trapped oil in subsurface reservoir rock, slugs of water and gas are injected alternately. Nevertheless, gas flow often accompanies fingering due to high gas mobility, which leaves a substantial portion of the reservoir underswept.
