Syringe Holder
thingiverse
This is a syringe holder for drying out syringe components after washing. The life span of these syringes can be extended by washing and drying them regularly, but they can be tough to get dry because the pieces don't stand up very well on their own. I designed this to be printed upright with a void in the base the size of a quarter (coin) and paused at the appropriate layer to insert the quarter to add as a base weight to help the center of balance and keep it from tipping over as easily. If not adding the weight, it probably prints easier laying down. Because I printed it standing upright (with supports) and didn't want the bottom surface to be marred by support structures, I also designed a sacrificial guard for the bottom plate. I had to use the support keep-out settings in the slicer to prevent supports between the bottom plate and the guard component. I let the slicer generate supports between the guard and the top area. The guard may be overkill, and there's probably a better way to accomplish what I was trying to do; so, I've supplied the stl without the guard as well. There are three files, the syringe holder by itself, the guard by itself, and the syringe holder with the guard in the correct orientation.
