Syringe Assist (Holder) for Strain Relief
thingiverse
Thought I'd create this for those who struggle using a syringe - it makes a huge difference with fine motor skills, particularly for individuals dealing with arthritis in their hands or difficulty gripping the smaller tabs with their fingers. I designed and built this specifically for working with a solder paste syringe - it gets incredibly tiring holding just the syringe in your hand while applying significant pressure over an extended period, leading to cramps and eventually RSI. The solution was to create something that provides a comfortable grip over long periods, allowing you to apply relatively thick solder flux or paste through small blunt (14-18 gauge) needles and thus requiring substantial pressure. For others, there may be applications such as using craft paints with syringes, but basically anything which requires long-term application using a syringe will find this one indispensable. The design is symmetrical, so it can be used by both left and right-handed individuals. There are three separate sizes of syringe catered for: 14mm, 17mm, and 20mm. Update April 23, 2019: For an alternative plunger to the existing relatively fragile one which comes with the 20mm syringe, check out this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3568539. This method is offered as a remedy, should the plunger on your solder syringe fail as mine did, rendering the syringe useless until a replacement or remake becomes available. They are after all designed as a single-use item with a built-in feature to enable making it unusable (anti-drug abuse etc.).
