These replacement keys are specifically designed for Synology NAS units like the DS918 or any other model utilizing 3.5-inch hard drives with a key lock feature. I personally use these keys in my home setup because, as it turns out, additional security measures aren't necessary - and that's mainly due to the fact that these locks aren't particularly robust anyway. It's also beneficial to have numbers displayed on each bay, especially when they're removed and you need to recall their correct order (this is crucial for RAID configuration). You can easily unlock a bay by twisting the key; conversely, when the numbers are twisted in an inverted position, the bay becomes locked.
