Symmetry Design -- Blender Monkey Suzanne

Symmetry Design -- Blender Monkey Suzanne

The model is a totally free and open design that comes bundled with Blender (the Blender Foundation has playfully nicknamed the monkey Suzanne). I wanted to 3D-print it, but it definitely needed finer details and had tons of overhangs which aren't ideal for MakerBot just yet. So, I tweaked the design in Blender using SubSurf modifier (setting it to three to make it much smoother), exported it as an STL file, and then printed the model with symmetry in mind – printing exactly half of the head, flipping one axis to print its mirror image, and finally gluing or epoxying them together.
