Syma Mini Hovercraft
thingiverse
I made some modifications to my Syma Sky Thunder RC D63 Drone as it wasn't functioning properly, so I decided to convert it into a hovercraft instead. I printed the conversion in PETG using my CR-10. The body required supports for proper printing. Assembly Process: Firstly, I had to remove the motor wires from the board since they passed through the quadcopter frame. If you want to perform a one-way conversion, simply cut off the frame arms of the copter. Next, I used small screws to attach the motherboard to the hovercraft body. Ensure that the motherboard faces forward for proper orientation. The forward props have enough space to accommodate wire routing through the channels in the body. To secure the battery on the board, I used an elastic band. This modification allows for a stable power supply during operation. If I need to reprint this conversion, I will modify the design as the tolerance on the prop guards is too tight. In that case, I'll re-upload the revised model for future reference. Additionally, the skirt attached to the hovercraft helps it navigate carpeted surfaces more easily. However, it reduces speed, so it's best to remove the skirt when operating on smooth surfaces. The hovercraft has a slight imbalance and is slightly back-heavy.
