Sylvanian Families Church
thingiverse
This is a miniature church perfectly scaled for the popular Sylvanian Families range of figures. The church arrives with 8 pews and boasts intricate detailing on its door, windows, roof, and tower. A music box mechanism can be fitted to the tower's mounting holes, allowing it to play a variety of tunes - my own plays the wedding march, while Amazon offers numerous other options. The colourful patterns on the windows are created by printing onto acetate, ensuring compatibility with your printer is essential. This design can be cut from four 60x40cm sheets of 3mm ply with minimal waste. Construction is a time-consuming process, as I deliberately made the joints tight and secure - gluing mine proved sufficient, though it should hold without glue. To assemble this model, you'll need a mallet and clamps, exercising care to protect it with scrap wood when striking or clamping. *Update:* A revised version of the design has been uploaded, featuring improvements such as an opening door and finger joints removed in the area of the "Praise Ye The Lord" banner. *Update:* A third updated version is now available, boasting further enhancements including a refined roof and decorative door frame that prevents the door from straining its hinges when opened. I utilised https://www.festi.info/boxes.py/index.html to create the joints and obtained my "stained glass" pattern from http://corylee.io/2015/05/05/simple-open-source-political-map-generator.html
