Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House spectral structure I visited with my cousins left me breathless from a distance, but it was even more awe-inspiring up close. It's challenging to envision how some architect conceptualized such an abstract design, and equally difficult to comprehend its construction process. The Sydney Opera House boasts a truly original and creative design, which is why I wanted to capture its essence. As one of the world's most impressive man-made marvels, it's thrilling to present this model. Printed on a Prusa i3 Einstein from Marko's Hub, you can find SKP images of my new work-in-progress prototype online. The roof tops' curved design required creative development, as they were based on slices of an oval sphere matched to the actual opera house's shape. I compared my pieces to a Google Earth model, but had to create my own due to its complexity and internal structures. The rest of the model was tricky to construct. Initially, I thought connecting the rooftops would result in a single solid model, but that approach failed. I neglected the space between the rooftops, which caused the print to fail. To solve this issue, I copied the roof design and created another shell with thickness, enabling it to print successfully. However, making the base of the structure as realistic as the original Sydney Opera House proved challenging. For now, I've used a circle as a base, similar to other models online, but I'm working on creating a more accurate representation. Through this experience, I've gained valuable insights into 3D modeling and new software capabilities, as well as various techniques. I hope you enjoy my adaptation of the Sydney Opera House and look forward to sharing updates in the future.
