SWX1 Linear Upgrade
thingiverse
I've always been eager to experiment with linear rails on a printer and given that many people are struggling with ribbon cables on the SWX1 (I haven't encountered this issue yet), I decided to revamp the Bondech BMG Prusa extruder for use on this printer. This design was originally intended for an E3D V6 with a BL Touch, a 5015 parts cooling fan and a 4010 heatsink fan. I've also included provisions for the back of a volcano block, as well as adjustable fan shroud and fan support to accommodate either the V^ or Volcano back. There are two versions of X ends: one is designed for use with type C carriage blocks, while the other is intended for type H carriage blocks. You'll need only one set of motor and Idler X ends that match your blocks. You can utilize your stock X Idler bracket and pulley setup. Additionally, you'll require 2 belt clips and I printed 2 alignment helper pieces to facilitate aligning the rail to the extrusion. I plan to create an assembly guide at my earliest convenience. Bill of Materials: I employed a clone BMG for use with its internal components (Bondtech gears, motor gear, hinge pin, etc.) * (10) M3 x 30 * (2) M3 x 40mm * (3) M3 x 6mm * (1) M3 x 8mm * (38) M3 x 10 * (17) M3 x 12 * (1) M3 x 14 * (1) M3 x 16 * (1) M3 x 20mm * (2) M3 x 8 countersunk screws * (4) M3 x 6mm countersunk screws * (2) 550mm MGN12H or C rails * (1) 400mm MGN12H rail * (28) M3 slot nuts * (10) M3 nylock nuts * (6) M3 square nuts * (3) M3 x 4 x 5mm brass knurled insert nut * 39mm PTFE tube * (1) MR125-2RS Bearing (5x12x4) This is a work in progress. 11/6/19 "Body Carriage" change: I moved the wiring attachment point down 4mm to provide additional clearance for the wiring bundle.
