Sword of the Lake

Deep within the County of Canterbury lies an unnaturally deep lake, where a mystical being known as the Lady of the Lake resides with a powerful tool at her disposal that she only gives to those who truly need it. The Sword of the Lake was first gifted to the bodyguard of the woman destined to become the first Queen of Canterbury, who tasked him to use the sword to defend his queen and the nation she would one day rule, and return the sword to its resting place in the lake on the eve of his death. Since then, nearly two thousand years ago, the Lady of the Lake has only gifted her sword a few times, with the most recent being over three hundred years ago when Canterbury was threatened by violence spilling over from their northern border.
