Swivel Chair Lock
thingiverse
I have been looking for a solution to a small problem a small number of people may experience. I enjoy SimRacing, but have limited space, so no room for a solid rig. I make do with a Wheel Stand I can set to the side and an Office Chair. Said office chair has Bell Casters to prevent it rolling around, but I still had a problem with swivel. So a Reddit search proved that I wasn't the only one with this problem, but among a few who had similar ideas. 1 year later, I finally figured out how to design and print a solution. I recommend printing this teeth side down with supports. You'll need 2 instances of each half. I used M5x30mm nuts and bolts with washers to secure it around the bottom and top part of the posts. I had to cut away the dust sleeve, which may shorten the life of your class 4 piston, but replacement parts run about £20 from what I've seen. This was specifically made for the GT Omega office chairs, but it may work for any office chair with a class 4 piston (dimensions may vary). I make no promises that this is a perfect solution. It does still allow a few degrees of rotation so that it slots in easier, and it still can be shifted around, but it adds tension that wasn't there before. Your cushy midsection will thank you for not having to concentrate on it while setting fastest deltas. My back problem may also improve, or get worse... No promises are made here, just a product that may or may not be what you're looking for. Someone on Facebook actually offered to pay for this thing! There is a tip designer button if you feel so inclined.
