A swivel is a versatile connection, enabling objects like guns and chairs to rotate both horizontally and vertically. A common design involves a cylindrical rod that can freely turn within a support structure, held securely in place by a nut, washer or thickened rod. Attachments may be positioned at the ends of the rod or centrally. Alternatively, a rotatable sphere within a support structure can be used, with devices attached to the sphere itself. Another design incorporates a hollow cylindrical rod that houses a smaller rod inside it, held together by flanges, and attachments can be placed on either end of this setup.
