Switchable Outlet Strip
thingiverse
Create a switchable outlet strip to reduce standby power using openSCAD and customizer. Design a box with holes for plugs and switches, mounting the power switches above corresponding plugs on the backside. However, note that 3D SCAD may be overkill for lasercutter files; try DXF output instead. Your first version might take long to render, so consider simplifying curves. Don't forget to differentiate engraving and cutting lines for the lasercutter. This customization process is a learning experience, as some limitations were encountered, such as using arrays with string inputs for plug names and DXF import in customizer. Overall, creating 3D models for lasercutting boxes can be challenging but rewarding.
