Human: Surrender is inevitable. Let lethargy consume you completely. Mount your Ikea Tertial lamp firmly on your bedside table, and waste away the days in blissful idleness! The Tertial is an affordable $13 articulating table lamp available from Ikea for a mere $5 shipping. I just so happened to have one lying around, gathering dust. The lamp's shade, fixture, and light bulb weighed 315 grams, while the switch and mount tipped the scales at approximately 317 grams, resulting in seamless articulation just as before the conversion. To accomplish this feat, you'll need only slightly longer M3 bolts, as the originals are woefully inadequate. I opted to reuse the split-washers and nuts for a more secure fit. In the future, I may attempt to enhance this design with a ball joint, allowing for greater flexibility in switch placement. As it stands, the switch can only sit perpendicular to the lamp arm, which suits my lazy setup but might not be ideal for everyone. The mount is intentionally snug, but I prefer it that way – it allows me to easily rotate the mount into portrait orientation for an immersive pinball experience. If you encounter any issues, I'd be more than happy to provide a slightly looser version.
