Swinging Snowman, PLA Spring Motor Style
myminifactory
Winter has finally arrived where I live, and it's time to prepare for snow. To celebrate the cold weather, I've decided to stay indoors and print a Swinging Snowman, featuring a PLA Spring Motor style design. This unique creation includes a hat, eyes, earmuffs, buttons, and a bow tie, all crafted in a steampunk aesthetic. The mechanism utilizes a PLA Spring Motor and an intricate clockwork escapement system, allowing the snowman to swing for several minutes after winding up. No external power sources are required - no batteries, motors, bearings, or bushings needed. To see this prototype in action, check out the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tj2_3SADafo&list=UUv_zm49u-RjnCJVwhUO-ecA&index=1. The design was created using Sketchup 8 and printed on a Makerbot Replicator 2 with Makerware 2.3.3.42 "Standard" settings, featuring a .2mm layer height, two shells, and 10% infill.
