Swimbait Fishing Lure

This lure is now available for purchase on Shapeways! It features enhanced chambers designed to accommodate larger BBs and a weight distribution system that ensures optimal action. Updates to the Thingiverse listing will be posted shortly. Check out this incredible demonstration video of the lure by TallFishermanJ: This lure can be printed in one piece, with multiple hinged segments that become loose after being flexed back and forth several times. This allows for a swimming motion, while internal chambers are provided for adding metal BBs to create rattling effects. I also experimented with various other lure designs; you can view them here. Instructions: Printing: This lure prints flat on its side using support material. Once printed, the support can be removed and the lure can be bent at the joints, allowing them to loosen up. PLA filament with a 0.1mm layer height and 0.8mm shell thickness is recommended. The red lure shown was printed with Taulman PLA, which proved slightly more brittle but helped loosen the hinges after printing. Standard PLA also works well. Metal BBs can be added to the chambers for weight and rattling effects. Infill density can be adjusted to control the rate of sinking; a 15% infill with internal BBs resulted in a gentle descent, but different densities may produce varying results. Hardware Used (approximately $12): 1. Fishing Lure Screw Eyes - 25 Pack 2. Stainless Steel Split Rings - 50 Pack, Size 4 3. Bleeding Bait Red Treble Hooks - Size 6 4. 3mm Dia Round Lead Split Shots Sinkers
