Simple Swim paddles are really comfortable to use, with grooves that keep your fingers snugly in place. 1/4 inch rubber tubing works perfectly as finger retainers - wrap it around your thumb, over the fleshy part of your hand, and finally around your index finger. A helpful tip is to adjust the size according to your hand - mine are a large (average glove size). For smaller hands, simply scale down accordingly, and for larger hands, scale up. To ensure accuracy, mirror these adjustments on the opposite side.
