Swift Core - Anet A8 Conversion to Core XY

thingiverse

This is conversion from Anet A8 to Core XY inspired by Hypercube Evolution (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2254103) Based on Hypercube Evolution, but many parts were modified to fit a pipe-shaped frame. Most of the parts are reused from Anet A8 printers. Pipes are sourced from discarded items like shoe racks and Ikea stand lamps, etc. I purchased additional parts below: 1. 6 Idlers - 2GT bore 3 EA (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32954658121.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.55ce4c4dRSRJmk) 2. M3 Bolts - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33001954206.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.55ce4c4dRSRJmk 3. GT2 Belts 5M, treated tooth cloth - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32822761985.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.55ce4c4dRSRJmk 4. E3D V6 nozzle set - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32809592160.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.55ce4c4dRSRJmk 5. Additional Smooth rod - 8mm 370mm - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32931565428.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.55ce4c4dRSRJmk 6. Protective silicon sock cover - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32920518452.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.55ce4c4dRSRJmk 7. 4 Additional LM8UU bearings - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32912832503.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dQxiiLx Total cost is less than $30. I now have a Core XY version, and I am thrilled to have it, as it offers much better quality than Anet A8. I have attached detailed photos of the build process. The assembled printer is strong and stable, despite its shabby appearance. The Z-axis can be built higher if desired. Update: After completing the build, I replaced the original E3D V6 clone with a water cooling system for the nozzle part. This upgrade significantly improved performance, as the 30mm fan was too small and weak. However, the water cooling system eventually developed a leak due to temperature fluctuations causing cracks in the hotend part. I removed the water cooling system and installed 40mm fans instead, which work well and provide better quality prints than the original Anet A8 printer. Therefore, I highly recommend upgrading to this system. Update on October 26, 2019: The frames are made of 16mm pipes with the following lengths: X frame pipe - 330mm, 4 EA Y frame pipe - 380mm, 4 EA Z frame pipe - 310mm, 4 EA Bed frame pipe (X) - 200mm, 2 EA Bed frame pipe (Y) - 310mm, 2 EA X Smooth Rod - 350mm, 2EA Y Smooth Rod - 375mm, 2EA Z Smooth Rod - 350mm, 4EA Ball screw - 300mm, 2EA The Z frame and smooth rod can be lengthened if more build space is required. Tips for assembly: If parts do not fit together, use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the parts, making assembly much easier than grinding. Update on November 30, 2019: I created a chamber using a table cover and installed a BL touch for better bed leveling. Marlin configuration.h file has been updated with BL Touch configuration.
