Sweeping out OpenSCAD/STL curves with a Python script

thingiverse

You can create complex knots by using mathematical formulas with a Python script, which sweeps a shape along a curve. The sweep.py script generates both an STL set of Borromean rings and an OpenSCAD file by default. You can customize it to change colors or formulas as needed. This script also includes additional examples like screw threads. The OpenSCAD output is more reliable because it works even when sizes cause self-intersections, unlike the STL generator.
