Swedish Face Shield Remix (stack of 8)

This model is a remix of the "Swedish" face shield that is popular in the Chicago area: https://www.limitless.studio/swedish-shield

It is inspired by the stacked version of the Prusa face shield. The tabs for the elastic are modified to enable stacked printing without supports. The pegs are modified to enable easier separation of frames with the additional support in the model such that supports generated by the slicer is not required.

STL files for stacks of 12 and 18 are also provided.

Updated (30apr2020): I added the file swedish face shield remix 12 stack more separators.stl which has more "pegs" to separate each frame. This may help those who have filament strings between these pegs. If this helps, please let me know, and we will create stacks of 8 and 18 as well.

Print instructions

The model is designed to be printed at a layer height of 0.25 mm. There are 0.25 mm separators between each layer of the frame. Printing at greater layer heights may eliminate these separators making the frames hard to separate.

The STL model should be oriented as shown in the photos.

Here is a video of how I separate the frames: https://youtu.be/is0hKxq1Ohk

The 3MF file has aggressive print settings for the Prusa MK3/S inspired by those for the Prusa Face Shield stack and enumerated below. The model has been printed in PETG or PLA.

[Update 10may2020] There are now additional STL and 3MF files with the suffix "more separators". These versions have additional "pegs" between each frame which may result in cleaner prints if the filament is stringy.

Filament extruder temperature: 255 °C (for PETG)

Layers and perimeters:

Layer height: 0.25 mm

First layer height: 0.2 mm

Perimeters: 2

Solid layers: Top: 3; * Bottom: 3

Infill:

Infill density: 5%

Fill pattern: Grid

Top fill pattern: Rectilinear

Bottom fill pattern: Rectilinear

Bridging angle: 90°

Skirt and brim:

no skirt

no brim

Support material:

no supports

Speed:

Speed for print moves:

perimeters: 105 mm/s

small perimeters: 60 mm/s

external perimeters: 75 mm/s

infill: 160 mm/s

solid infill: 100 mm/s

top solid infill: 70 mm/s

bridges: 45 mm/s

gap fill: 100 mm/s

Speed for non-print moves:

travel: 215 mm/s

Modifiers:

first layer speed: 40 mm/s

Acceleration control:

perimeters: 900 mm/s2

infill: 1600 mm/s2

bridge: 1100 mm/s2

first layer: 1100 mm/s2

default: 1700 mm/s2

Auto Speed:

max print speed: 250 mm/s

Advanced:

Extrusion width:

default extrusion width: 0.55 mm

first layer: 0.42 mm

perimeters: 0.55 mm

external perimeters: 0.55 mm

infill: 0.55 mm

solid infill: 0.55 mm

top solid infill: 0.5 mm

Overlap:

infill/perimeters overlap: 27%

Flow:

bridge flow ratio: 0.9
