Swappable hot end for Creality CR-10
thingiverse
I started upgrading my 3D printer with the quick tool change that I showcased on Thingiverse, and it remains one of my most impressive upgrades to date. However, it had its limitations because whenever I switched tools, I always had to reposition the hot end manually. With the swappable hot end design, I can detach the entire hot end assembly, just like the Ultimaker printers do. This setup also allows me to use different hot ends for various materials or nozzle diameters, which is a significant advantage. After conceptualizing this idea, I discovered several similar approaches, but none of them incorporated disconnection capability for the bowden tube itself. Another exciting aspect of this upgrade is its compatibility with laser engravers; no additional wiring or switches are required on my control board, allowing me to connect it directly without any complications. In the upcoming weeks, I will be working diligently on perfecting this design. If you'd rather avoid the hassle and potential risks associated with installing this upgrade yourself, but still want to benefit from its advantages, I'm considering selling a pre-assembled set on my website if there's sufficient interest. This kit would include the necessary cable for connecting directly to the control box, eliminating the need for any cuts or modifications. If you found this helpful or appreciated the effort I put into creating it, please consider buying me a coffee via Ko-fi.
