
Sustainapack Concept

This is a design for nesting packaging aimed at shipping Microtechnologies' switches in bulk, submitted for the Sustainapack challenge. The tray concept is simple and minimalistic, accommodating 25 switches per tray, while stacked trays create a 200-count package fitting into a square box. The top piece matches the trays but can be altered to save material. Each tray measures 100mm x 100mm x 53mm (3.9" x 3.9" x 2") and weighs approximately 449g (1 lb) when empty, increasing to 1199g (~2.64 lbs) when loaded without brackets or 1574g (3.47 lbs) with brackets. A stack of 8 trays forms a package with dimensions of 510mm x 510mm x 483mm (20" x 20" x 19"), including the top and bottom pieces, which weigh approximately 300g (0.66lb) and 157.5g (0.35lb) respectively. The design utilizes high-density PE as a material option, with all weights being estimates. Credit to Tommy Mueller for providing the compact switch file used in the concept.
