Human: Surly's steel frames come without central kickstand plates, a decision seemingly driven by religious conviction rather than any practical reason. If you want to install a central kickstand, consider using something like the Pletscher Kickstand Plate. However, there is an issue with traditional kickstands: they tend to rotate around their bolt axis, leading to wear on your wheels no matter how tightly you secure them. Kickstands similar to the Ursus Jumbo will inevitably rub against your tires even after tightening the bolt as much as possible. This align tool solves that problem by providing a fixed perimeter around the base of the kickstand, preventing it from rotating. It is specifically designed for Surly Troll frames (M/18") and the Ursus Jumbo kickstand. Included are both STL and Fusion 360 files to make modifications easier. I've been using this tool for several years now, putting it through all sorts of abuse and rough handling without a single crack appearing. The kickstand remains firmly in place, not moving at all.
