I used 6mm neodymium magnets (ensure the polarity is the same direction and it'll work either with North or South facing magnets) and I had to oversize the holes in the model for them to go in well. I used super glue to hold them in and it's working well. It's nice and low profile. you do have to install the print on the chainring (3 spots using m5 hardware) and then reinstall it on the crank. I printed it on Ender 3 with the large flat face on the bed and with 0.2mm layers and a gyroid infill of around 20%. most of the strength is in the metal hardware.
