The Suricata suricatta, commonly referred to as the meerkat, is a species of mammal that belongs to the family Herpestidae. Its scientific name was first described by Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. The meerkat's unique characteristics and behavior have made it a popular subject for study and observation. The specimen MZB 91-0220, a male adult meerkat, is part of the collection at the Zoo de Barcelona. It was acquired on an unspecified date in 1991. Physical measurements taken from this specimen reveal a mandible size of approximately 16.5 millimeters in height, 32.8 millimeters in width, and 45.7 millimeters in depth.
