Surgical Mask Strap (rev3)
thingiverse
This is a revised mask strap that I first came across in a recent news story (Quinn from Canada). It serves the same function but with a bit more care and attention to detail. Publishing single print and 6-pack print (compatible with Ender 3 bed) STL files. Settings include a 0.35mm layer height and solid printing (no infill), which has been successfully achieved in PLA on an Ender 3. UPDATE 4/19: I added another STL file featuring remixes of another design that caught my eye. A bit more love was given to it, and I'll credit the original designer as soon as possible (just need to track down who created it). After printing it out, I concluded that this design works best with thin (lightweight) elastic bands. Our masks have 1/4" thick elastic bands and require the larger hooks (like in the original strap), as shown in a photo. UPDATE 4/21: I discovered another design called EarSaver that looked promising. Unfortunately, my Ender 3 had trouble getting the initial layer to set properly on the bed. Some complexity was removed, and it now prints fine with the same settings for all designs. Single and six pack STL files have been uploaded. UPDATE 5/3: Finally, I received an actual surgical mask to test out these strap designs. It became clear that many of them are much larger than necessary. So, here (MaskStrap-v964) is a nicely sized remix of SamC-E's design. Same print settings as others apply. Single, 6-pack and 20-pack STL files are included. The 20-pack fits within a 200x200mm footprint.
