Surgical Mask Strap for Laser Cutter
thingiverse
This redesign is grounded in medically approved principles. I opted for laser cutting thin acrylic as a faster alternative to 3D printing. Each piece takes approximately 45 seconds to complete on my laser cutter. Since no suitable file was available, I re-designed the model specifically for laser cutting. The original design proved too brittle, so I incorporated additional structural integrity to ensure this version's stability. To achieve the desired shape, I used a heat gun to bend the rigid pieces, which initially resisted conforming to the head's curvature. A custom form is in development for use with a toaster oven to streamline production. I utilized 1mm thick acrylic, commonly employed in shower surround applications. *** Disclaimer: This design will be tested by medical professionals within the coming days to assess its efficacy. I am forwarding it to three local hospitals for feedback. Updates will follow regarding the outcome. If the trial is successful, I intend to donate a large quantity of these devices to my area's hospitals and clinics.
